  • 1 cup 200g granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup 120ml vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups 180g all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup 120ml whole milk
  • 1 lb 450g fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • Powdered sugar for dusting optional

For the Strawberry Sauce:

  • 2 cups 300g fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup 50g granulated sugar (adjust according to sweetness preference)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup 60ml water

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  • Prepare Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine granulated sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until well combined and creamy.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Mix Batter: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
