Ingredients

For the Samosa Patti:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

For the filling:

  • 2 medium potatoes boiled, peeled, and mashed
  • 1/2 cup green peas cooked
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder optional
  • Salt to taste
  • Vegetable oil for deep frying

Instructions

  • To make the somasa patti, combine the flour and salt in a bowl. Add the water and oil and mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes, or until it is smooth and elastic.
  • Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces. Roll out each piece of dough into a thin circle.
  • To make the filling, combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  • To assemble the samosas, place a spoonful of filling in the center of each samosa pattis. Fold the somosa pattis into a cone shape, moistening the edges with water to seal.
  • Heat the oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Fry the samosas in batches for 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Drain the samosas on paper towels and serve immediately with your favorite chutney, dipping sauce or ketchup.
