  • 1 Tbsp Cornstarch Thickens the apple filling.
  • 1 Tbsp Butter For cooking the apple filling.
  • 1 Tbsp Milk or Cream For brushing the tops of the biscuits.

Instructions

  • Prepare the Apple Filling:
Peel, core, and dice the apples into small pieces.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  • Add the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Stir to combine.
  • Cook for 5-7 minutes until the apples are softened and the mixture thickens. Add cornstarch if needed to achieve the desired consistency. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  • Prepare the Biscuit Dough:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
  • Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually pour in the milk, stirring gently until the dough comes together. Avoid overmixing.
  • Assemble the Biscuits:
Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness.
  • Use a biscuit cutter to cut out circles from the dough. Re-roll scraps as needed.
  • Place half of the biscuit rounds on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon a small amount of the cooled apple filling onto the center of each round.
  • Place another biscuit round on top of each filled biscuit, gently pressing the edges to seal.
  • Bake the Biscuits:
Brush the tops of the biscuits with milk or cream for a golden finish.
  • Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown.
  • Cool and Serve:
Transfer the biscuits to a cooling rack and let them cool slightly.
  • Serve warm and enjoy the delicious combination of buttery biscuits and spiced apple filling!
