Ingredients Method

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound pasta penne, rigatoni, or your choice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup 120ml heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Method
 

  1. Cook Pasta: Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: While pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more.
  3. Simmer Sauce: Stir in crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Combine and Serve: Add cooked pasta to the sauce. Toss to coat. Serve with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
