Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour 120 grams
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder 5 grams
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 3 grams
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 gram
  • 1/2 cup butter softened (114 grams)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar 200 grams
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 5 milliliters
  • 1/2 cup milk 120 milliliters
  • 6 ounces of jello powder your favorite flavor (170 grams)
  • 2 cups boiling water 473 milliliters
  • 1 cup cold water 237 milliliters
  • 1 cup heavy cream whipped (240 milliliters)

Instructions
 

Step 1: Preheat oven and prepare baking pan.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

Step 2: Mix the dry ingredients.

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 3: Cream the butter and sugar.

  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Step 4: Add the eggs and vanilla.

  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.

Step 5: Add the dry and wet ingredients alternately.

  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients alternately with the milk, beating until just combined.

Step 6: Bake the cake.

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 7: Cool the cake.

  • Allow the cake to cool completely.

Step 8: Make the jello mousse.

  • In a large bowl, combine the jello powder and boiling water. Stir until dissolved, then add the cold water.
  • Refrigerate the jello mixture for 15-20 minutes, or until it starts to thicken.
