- 4 cups whole milk 960 ml
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk 14 oz or 396 g
- 1/4 cup sugar 50 g
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1 tablespoon chopped nuts almonds, cashews, pistachios
In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, pour the whole milk and bring it to a boil over medium heat.
Once the milk starts boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer. Stir occasionally to prevent the milk from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
Simmer the milk for about 30 minutes or until it reduces to almost half its original volume. Keep scraping the sides of the pan and adding the cream that forms back into the milk.
Add the sweetened condensed milk, sugar, and cardamom powder to the simmering milk. Stir well to combine.
Continue to simmer the mixture for another 10-15 minutes until it thickens to your desired consistency. Keep stirring occasionally.
Once the basundi reaches the desired consistency, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.
Transfer the basundi to a serving dish or individual bowls.
Garnish with chopped nuts of your choice (almonds, cashews, pistachios).
Serve warm or chilled, according to your preference. Enjoy your delicious basundi condensed milk pudding!
