Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour 250g
  • 2 cups granulated sugar 375g
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder 5g
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 2g
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt 2g
  • 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened (227g)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk 240ml
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 5ml

For the lemon glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar 120g
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice 30ml
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest 5g

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk, and beating until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Make the lemon glaze:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest until smooth.
